Fun Ways to Get Fit Without a Gym

Now that it’s January, we can often feel the pressure to get fit especially if we’ve enjoyed ourselves a little too much over the festive period! However, many people can find the gym quite daunting and the idea of having to exercise in front of strangers does not sound appealing. On top of this, you might not want to have to enter a gym contract and pay a monthly membership; our busy lives mean that we don’t always have the time to go to the gym! There are so many other things you can do to get fit without a gym, whether you want to really go for it or just make a few little changes to your lifestyle.

Sign up for a sports team

If you’ve always been interested in football or netball, or even something like swimming, but never thought about taking it up properly as a hobby then this is the perfect opportunity. Joining a team and playing sport regularly is a great way to get fit without a gym, while also having fun and meeting new people; you might enjoy it that much you forget that you’re exercising!

Start doing yoga

The best part about starting yoga is you only need a mat and yourself. There are so many online guides to help you achieve the best yoga workout so you can easily do it in the comfort of your own home. Not only is it good for your fitness but it can also help to reduce stress and unclutter your mind.

Go on regular walks or hikes

One of the best ways to add a bit of fitness to your life is to get out and go on a walk. Wrap up warm and plan out some scenic routes so that exercising turns into a great way to spend a couple of hours. Whether you choose to go on a walk around the block, or visit a local hike route, we’ll bet you’ll feel the burn in no time!

Start running

There’s not many of us out there that enjoy running, but it will definitely save you money on a gym membership. It’s also another way to get you outside, and with so many running clubs and running events taking place from 5k runs to marathons you could end up surprising yourself!

Make little changes

If exercising really isn’t for you, or your busy lifestyle doesn’t leave you enough time, there’s so many other things you can do. You already know what they are; taking the stairs instead of the lift and if you get the bus then get off a stop earlier are just a couple of ideas.
